Are you prepared for an emergency?

The new legal requirements may feel like somewhat of a hospital pass for water suppliers.

In previous decades, when you had a MAV exceedance or there was an outbreak, you contacted a Drinking Water Assessor or Health Protection Officer at your local Public Health Service for support.  They in turn had access to the Medical Officer of Health and the Ministry of Health for more technical guidance.

Now, although you are required to notify Taumata Arowai, they will usually suggest you refer to your Drinking Water Safety Plan (or Acceptable Solution if applicable).

This is why you need expert public health expertise in developing your response plans, and in situations where the emergency goes beyond the scope of these plans.

This is why an engineering consultancy, regardless of its reputation for quality engineering solutions, is not what you need.
